Headings on a Web Page

A good way to explore a web page is by moving through the headings.  Major areas of a web page can be marked with headings.  For example, on a news site, there may be heading for national news, international news, local news, classifieds, sports and others.  Generally, after a heading will come links and text.  Moving through twenty or so headings is much faster than moving through over one-hundred links.  You can find the heading you want, and then move through the links in that area of the web page--it is much faster.  Hitting the letter "h" on a web page will take you to the first heading.  Keep hitting the letter "h" to move down the headings on the web page.  On most web pages there are levels of headings, going from a main category to headings of areas within that category.  These in category headings often have links following them--you will have to explore the web page to determine this.  Some screen readers and screen enlargers have a method to list the headings on a web page.  Refer to your key commands list to determine if there is a way you can list the headings.  If you decide you want to go back up the headings on the web page, press and hold down the Shift key and hit the letter "h" until you hear the heading you want.  Following are some headings with a few links to explore--they are designed to keep you on this web page.  There is a "BACK" link at the bottom of this page to take you back to the "Internet Lessons" web page.
